1952 Topps #311 Mickey Mantle CENTERED PSA Auth/Alt New York Yankees. 1952 Topps card #311 of Hall-of-Famer, Mickey Mantle. I had expected this card to earn Poor 1. Instead, PSA assigned it "Authentic/Altered" and of course we have no explanation for that conclusion. Is Beautifully Centered, and is certainly "Authentic".

We knew that going in. The card is heavily worn; there is no argument there! However, we do not know why PSA is of the opinion that the card has been "Altered", and is not worthy of a Numerical Grade of Poor 1.

Again, that was the expection when the card was submitted. Instead, this is just another example of a Superstar card getting hammered in the grading process. If this were any other common card from the'52T set, I would be willing to wager a ton of loot that it would have received "Poor 1".
